Hospitality / Visual identity / Self-initiated study / 2026

Tidehouse

A quieter kind of arrival.

01 / The brief

A system with a job to do.

A self-initiated identity for an imagined small coastal guesthouse. The brief: make the welcome distinctive while keeping practical information—finding a room, reading a menu, planning a stay—effortless.

Audience
Independent travellers looking for a slower, place-led stay.
Scope
Mark, wordmark, typographic direction, editorial and digital applications.
Status
Independent portfolio concept. Not a commissioned or launched business.

02 / Identity

Recognisable. At every scale.

Space is part of the mark.

Keep one horizon-stroke of clear space around the symbol. Room numbers and arrows sit outside that area, so the identity never becomes a wayfinding obstacle.

One family. Distinct jobs.

Oasis Light gives display typography its relaxed character. Regular carries the small wordmark and reading text. Medium anchors room numbers and directions. Explore the original typeface ↗

03 / Applications

The idea, put to work.

Four designed surfaces test the same identity against different information, scale, and reading conditions.

Room
to breathe.

Early light. An open window. Nowhere else you need to be.

Rooms / Table / Coast
01 / PosterThe doorway becomes a large graphic form. A restrained message carries the invitation.

02 / Room card & welcome noteA large room number does the practical work. Brand elements stay secondary where orientation matters most.
Notes for your stay

A good day,
unhurried.

At the house

Make yourself at home.

Breakfast belongs to the morning, not the clock. Take a seat at the long table, find a spot in the garden, or carry your coffee outside.

Ask us about a walk along the coast, a quiet place to read, or what is cooking tonight. There is no itinerary to keep up with.

A place to take your time02
03 / Editorial spreadThe same voice shifts from invitation to useful information. Reading measure stays independent of the display scale.

04 / Responsive digital compositionA layout study, not a booking or shop interface. The title, name, and next-step hierarchy remain intact as the composition narrows.

04 / Decisions & trade-offs

Character without the clutter.

An open doorway meets a horizon line. The mark suggests both shelter and a view without relying on a palm tree or a nautical crest. A light Oasis wordmark gives the identity air; heavier weights carry room numbers and practical directions.

A thin wordmark is expressive at display scale but weak on small functional signs. The small-use lockup moves to Regular, while the mark keeps its solid geometry. Warm paper carries the information; deep coastal green anchors the identity.

This is a design proposition. Production testing, audience research, and real-world performance would be the next validation steps; no commercial outcomes are claimed.
